In an effort to foster the participation of the Ving Tsun community in recognizing those Grandmasters and Sifu who selflessly contribute to the propagation of the Ving Tsun system, the WVTAA has instituted new procedures for the nomination of the Grandmaster and Sifu of the Year award starting with the 2011 induction. If you are a Sifu of your own school or organization, you may participate in the nomination process. You must have a minimum of 10 years experience in Ving Tsun in order to do so, this will however be vetted.
CRITERIA:
1. You can not nominate your own Grandmaster or Sifu.
2. The Grandmaster must be a disciple of the prior Grandmaster of the system, e.g. Chan Chee Man is a disciple of Ip Man.
3. Those nominated must be actively involved in Ving Tsun by either teaching or promoting Ving Tsun, e.g. authoring books, producing DVD's, conducting seminars, etc.
4. You may nominate those from other branches of the Ving Tsun / Wing Chun system.
5. Nominations will be accepted throughout the year with a deadline for submission of July 4th. Annoucement of the induction will be Sept. 1.
The 3 names with the most nominations for both catagories will be submitted to the WVTAA Executive Committee Board. A vote will be cast to render an induction.
If there is no WVTAA representative living in the area of the inducted, a Sifu who has made a nomination that lives in the vacinity, will be asked to present the award. Picture/s will be asked to be taken for submittal to the Kung Fu Tai Chi magazine.
